Frequently Asked Questions About NPS Calculator
What is NPS Calculator and how does it work?
An NPS Calculator is a financial tool that helps estimate your retirement corpus and monthly pension from the National Pension System. It uses compound interest calculations based on your monthly contributions, expected returns, and investment tenure to project your retirement savings.
What are the tax benefits of NPS in 2025?
NPS offers excellent tax benefits under multiple sections: (1) Section 80CCD(1): Deduction up to ₹1.5 lakh within the overall 80C limit, (2) Section 80CCD(1B): Additional exclusive deduction of ₹50,000 over and above the 80C limit, (3) Section 80CCD(2): Employer contributions up to 14% of salary are tax-free.
What percentage of NPS corpus must be used for annuity?
At retirement, you must use at least 40% of your NPS corpus to purchase an annuity plan for regular pension. The remaining 60% can be withdrawn as a lump sum tax-free. However, you can choose to annuitize up to 100% of your corpus for higher monthly pension.
Can I withdraw from NPS before retirement?
Partial withdrawals are allowed after 3 years of contribution for specific purposes like higher education, marriage, medical treatment, or home purchase. You can withdraw up to 25% of your contributions for these purposes, maximum 3 times during the entire tenure.
